Being underwater is an experience that compares to none other on this planet. It allows you to hover weightlessly in a watery world filled with some of the most incredible and bizarre creatures imaginable. It is an activity that can be enjoyed by all ages in all places. Our own backyard, The Puget Sound, offers some of the best diving to be found anywhere. In fact, Jacques Cousteau proclaimed it the second best place to dive in the world (behind the Red Sea). The Open Water Diver class is your ticket to a lifetime of exploration. Your certification card never expires, nor does the adventure.
Keep in mind the PADI curriculum is very flexible. If you don’t have time to do all of your training here before you go on your vacation, you can obtain a “referral” and you can finish up any course work (pool, classroom, or open water dives) that you have yet to complete at any PADI facility. To find locations of PADI dive centers worldwide, visit www.padi.com.
Minimum Age: 12 years old for Junior Open Water Diver certification. The only difference between this rating and the Open Water Diver rating is a limitation on the maximum depth the diver can go. Any minor must always dive with an adult. If a student is 15 years old by the date of certification, they will receive the regular Open Water Diver card.
