Pelagia Scuba offers two hands-on skill workshops from Divers Alert Network. Both classes involve knowledge development, but the emphasis is on practicing accident scenarios so that you have the confidence to act swiftly in the face of an emergency. DAN Courses

Rapid oxygen administration has been proven to bridge the gap between a partial recovery to a full recovery in diving accidents. Are you prepared? Can you recognize the uncommon symptoms of DCI? Do you know which oxygen delivery method to use for difference emergency circumstances?

You will learn all this and more in your DAN Oxygen First Aid class. Before the workshop begins, you will receive a DAN Training Book for review. The 3-4 hour workshop will consist of a knowledge development portion in which we will study case histories of real people who have suffered from DCI and the treatment they did (or did not) receive. Then you will get a chance to put what you have learned into action. The emphasis of the course is on participation in realistic scenarios involving different injuries. They are designed to give you the confidence to be able to act quickly in any DCI emergency. The course serves as an excellent review of CPR procedures as well.

Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries

Do you know how to treat a stingray or urchin puncture? Seafood poisoning? Jellyfish stings? Be prepared for your next vacation in the tropics. This course might save you, your family, or your dive buddies from the discomfort caused by accidental contact with hazardous marine life.

You will receive a DAN Training Book before class to review. The workshop will consist of a knowledge development portion to review various envenomations, bites, stings, and food poisonings. Then you will get a chance to put what you have learned into action. The emphasis of the course is on participation in realistic scenarios involving different injuries. They are designed to give you the confidence to be able to act quickly in any hazardous marine life emergency.
