Frustrated with buoyancy control? Or maybe you just purchased a new camera and need practice keeping a steady hand. Even the most seasoned diver can have trouble controlling their position in the water.

The best solution is to first understand the fundamentals of weighting and streamlining, then to dedicate two full dives to experimentation.

The Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty begins with a brief classroom session that explains:

  • Why most divers dive with too much weight
  • How to spot an overweighted diver
  • How to determine your ideal weight, and how to check it in the water
  • How to streamline yourself, and techniques for redistributing your weight

Next we will do two open water dives. You will be provided with a variety of different types of weight systems (belts, soft weights, ankle weights, and clip-ons) so you can trim to perfection. You will then practice various skills designed to teach optimal buoyancy control. These will be video taped so you have a chance to watch your performance and get immediate feedback.

At the end of this course you will have a new confidence in your dive skills, be better on air consumption, and be an invaluable resource for friends who need buoyancy control tips.

One of your open water dives for the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty can count towards your Advanced class. This specialty course will also get you one step closer to the Master Scuba Diver rating.
