Pacific Northwest Conservation

The Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) - REEF's mission is "to educate and enlist divers in the conservation of marine habitats". The REEF Fish Survey Project enlists the volunteer efforts of divers to collect data on ocean fish and invertebrate populations. People for Puget Sound: People For Puget Sound is a citizens' group working to protect and restore the health of Puget Sound and the Northwest Straits through education and action. Their vision is a clean and healthy Sound, teeming with fish and wildlife, cared for by people who live here.


Washington Sea Grant - Washington Sea Grant Program serves communities, industries and the people of Washington state, the Pacific Northwest and the nation through research, education, outreach and technology transfer related to marine resources.


Center for Whale Research – Located in Friday Harbor, founded to promote and conduct benign studies on populations of whales, dolphins and porpoises, and to report factual results of these studies to governments, organizations and individuals for the purpose of conserving these remarkable marine animals for future generations.

Race Rocks – This site of an ecological reserve and marine protected area has live video feeds from the Race Rocks Marine Protected Area in BC and much more! Race Rocks is a showcase for Pacific marine life, featuring whales, sea lions, seals, birds and a dazzling array of underwater plants and animals.

Georgia Strait Alliance – Committed to a future for their region that includes clean water and air, healthy salmon runs and rich marine life and natural areas. They are the only citizens’ group focused on protecting the marine environment in and around the Strait of Georgia.

British Columbia Wild Killer Whale Adoption Program - By becoming a member of the B.C. Wild Killer Whale Adoption Program you will be directly supporting research on wild killer whales. Continuing research will lead to a better understanding of the whales, their place in the ocean ecosystem, and the conservation measures necessary to protect them.

The Living Oceans Society – Living Oceans Society is a non-profit research and public education organization that promotes the need for a healthy ocean and healthy communities on Canada’s Pacific Coast.


Khoyatan Marine Lab - Khoyatan Marine Laboratory is a research facility dedicated to the understanding and stewardship of ecosystems in the Northeast Pacific Ocean. The site has information on endangered species, photographs of coastal marine life, and a list of current projects.
